I genuinely love construction. I grew up around it, and it was one of the main ways I connected with my dad as a kid. Watching him build things sparked my interest early and set the foundation for how I approach my work today. I originally went to college to become a CAD drafter and spent eight years in that role before deciding I wanted to get back into construction.
Having grown up in residential work, I joined the union in 2005 as an apprentice in commercial construction and started over. Every project comes with challenges, but that’s what makes the work rewarding. Solving problems alongside a strong team and seeing something take shape through shared effort is what keeps me engaged.
Outside of work, I’m passionate about photography. I used to shoot weddings and portraits, and I still feel the need to capture anything that catches my eye. I also love camping in every form — summer trips in the BWCA or on the Superior Hiking Trail, or pulling a toboggan into the woods in winter to set up my tent and stove. Any excuse to be in the woods with a cup of coffee and I’m there. Music is another big part of my life. It makes me happy, and I play guitar and trombone. You’ll almost always find me tapping a beat wherever I go.
