Kristy S.
Skilled Laborer
My path into construction started with a simple recommendation from one of my vocational/technical school teachers, but it quickly turned into a career I genuinely enjoy. Since joining the union, I’ve found that the variety of the work, the daily challenges, and the satisfaction of seeing tangible results are what keep me engaged. I’m motivated by solving problems and achieving results, which makes construction a pretty natural fit.
When I’m not working, I’m happiest outdoors or in the kitchen. Boating is a favorite, and I love cooking and hosting family events. My love for the outdoors started early. My first day on a river, I was only six days old, dressed in a Cabbage Patch swimsuit by my mom so I could tag along. I’m also a devoted state fair junkie who tries to go six times a year for the food, the atmosphere, and the fact that every day there feels different from morning to night.
