Hospitality, to me, is a curated and personalized experience. When it comes from a genuine place, it carries an element of unpredictability. It may show up in unexpected ways, but it’s always felt by those who experience it.

Building my first project showed me that projects can build you, too. I’ve learned dozens of tools, but only one improves with every job, every decision, and every challenge: ourselves. That’s my favorite part of the work. Learning construction from countless professionals, including my mentors in the Student-Intern trades program at Lake Street Works, has been an extremely enjoyable and fulfilling experience, and many of those lessons carry far beyond the situations where I first learned them.

During my time at Lake Street Works, I won the Golden Hammer award, and I gave a graduation speech there that I’m particularly proud of.

In my time outside of work, I enjoy cooking — and eating the results of my cooking!
