Carpenter
Hospitality means showing kindness because you really care.
The thing I love most about being a carpenter is creating something unique and detailed, and then getting to step back and look at the end result. My passion for construction started at a young age through my dad and uncles—my dad owned his own construction company, and I have family members in just about every trade. I learned a tremendous amount from my dad, and to this day, I don't know of anything he can't do. That early exposure not only taught me valuable skills but also inspired my appreciation for quality craftsmanship. What motivates me every day is the opportunity to keep learning, because there's always something new to try.
One of my favorite things to do is build creative, imaginative things from scratch. I once built a fully themed medieval room complete with reclaimed cedar, steam-bent curved entrances, a stone wall, and a lion head knocker. That kind of project, where I get to use my technical skills to express my creativity, is where I'm in my element. Outside of work, I also tend a summer garden with rotating crops like pickle cucumbers and beets, and I keep tropical and saltwater fish.
